Rachel finished her M.S. with Prof. Ken Shull in Materials Science. Welcome!

We’ve had a busy summer! First, we are honored to be included in the 100th Anniversary of Macromolecular Science series of viewpoints in ACS Macro Letters. We wrote a long article on advanced optical microscopy techniques in polymer science. Although he is no longer with us, Zhe also came back with a big lift.

Next, Ruimeng published a paper in Advanced Functional Materials, showing how we can control the periodicity of block copolymers using in-film polymerization, and then modulate the photonic properties of thin films.

Finally, Tyler was co-first on a paper with the Shull group and our collaborators at Dow, in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces. The paper is a nice description of the elastomer materials that he is working on.

Congrats to all!

Mitchell has won the 2020 Cole-Higgins Teaching Award! This is awarded to one tenure-track faculty member in the McCormick School of Engineering each year. We are really grateful for this honor!

Harry Landfield was recognized by an Honorable Mention from the NSF. Congrats Harry!

We have two new members of the group! Harry Landfield is a first-year grad student, got his B.S. from U. Delaware. Samira Abedi is our newest postdoc, who comes from Siva Vanapalli and Chau-Chyun Chen at Texas Tech. Welcome Harry and Samira!

Ruimeng is our newest postdoc! He comes from Stephen Cheng‘s group at the University of Akron. Welcome!

We are honored to be included in the 2020 MSDE Emerging Investigators issue! The paper discusses using pyrene to measure the order-disorder transition temperature in block copolymer thin films. Check it out!

We are incredibly grateful to be funded by an NSF CAREER award, thanks to everyone’s hard work!

Huge congratulations to Zhe, who accepted a tenure-track position at the University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Polymer Science and Engineering. He will be greatly missed in our group.
